Prince George, B.C.- It’s been nearly 25 years since the Romp ‘n Stomp took place in Prince George. That event would become the Relay for Life and in May of 2017 will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in Prince George.
With a tip of the hat to the original event, the 2017 version of the fundraiser will have the theme “Stompin’ Out Cancer for 25 Years.”
Organizers are already putting plans in place for this milestone event. “We are humbled and excited to celebrate the passion, dedication and commitment that has been at the heart of the Prince George Relay For Life for the past 25 years,” said Aimee Cassie, Relay For Life Coordinator. “We are thrilled to invite all current and past Relay supporters to join us again to celebrate, remember and fight back as a united community.”
The Prince George version of the Relay for Life is the only 24 hour relay in Canada and will take place on May13 and 14th at Masich Place Stadium. The Relay is the largest fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society and Prince George has been at the top of the fundraising list for three straight years with the 2016 event raising $557 thousand dollars.
The dollars raised not only go towards funding research, but to support those on a cancer journey.
Online registration for the Relay is already open. To register, visit www.relayforlife.ca/princegeorge.
