Timberwolves Find It’s Good to Leave Manitoba

Prince George, B.C. – The University of Winnipeg Wesmen swept the UNBC Timberwolves’ men’s and women’s teams in the opening weekend of Canada West basketball action for both clubs in Winnipeg.

Sean Tarver scored 29 points in leading the Wesmen to their second straight win over UNBC, 84-75 Saturday night.  Rhys Elliott, the Timberwolves’ leading scorer last season, scored a game high 34 points while teammate Vaggelis Loukas had 19 with nine rebounds.

Meantime on the women’s side, Winnipeg posted a 66-51 victory to go with their 58-52 win Friday night.  Fourth year guard Antoinette Miller led the Wesmen with 21 points while Maria Mongomo scored 15 for the visitors.

UNBC is at home against the Alberta Pandas next weekend.
