Prince George, B.C. – Those wanting to help the less fortunate this holiday season have made their way down to the Coast Inn of the North this morning.
The Prince George Salvation Army is hosting its annual Kettle Kickoff Breakfast where a donation will not only get you breakfast, but it will also help the local non-profit reach its fundraising goal of $250,000 says business manager Bill Glasgow.
“Proceeds are used to fund the work that we do in Prince George. We somehow find a way of getting that $250,000 to stretch the year along to pay salaries, to buy food for the food bank and to make things work for us.”

Captain Neil Wilkinson adds the demand for their services seems to grow each year.
“It does and the interesting thing is we’ve been able to maintain levels of service in helping people without having to ask for more money year after year,” he says.
“We’ve set the same goals as last year but we are seeing an increase, we’re helping about 1,500 families each month which makes up about 3,800 people.”
Along with today’s breakfast, which runs until noon, Salvation Army kettles have been set up at 10 locations around town. If you’d like to volunteer call 250-596-HOPE.
