Smithers, B.C. – Skeena-Bulkley Valley NDP MP Nathan Cullen has been recognized once again by his peers in Ottawa.CullenNathan_NDP_(40th_Parl)_thumb

He is this year’s winner of the Parliamentarian of the Year award for Best Orator in the House of Commons.

“I’m truly humbled to have won this award, and very thankful to my colleagues for voting me this honour,” said Cullen. “My best speeches are when I’m able to talk about BC’s Northwest and the amazing people who make it home.”

Parliamentarians vote by secret ballot each year to nominate their colleagues for one of eight awards ranging from Most Collegial to Best Rising Star.

This is the second-time Cullen has won an award at this event – he won Most Knowledgeable MP in 2014.

Other winners included interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose who won Hardest Working MP and NDP leader Tom Mulcair who took home Best Parliamentarian of the Year.

The MPs were honoured at Maclean’s Parliamentarians of the Year gala in Ottawa last night. For a full listing of winners click here.

Seriously? Do they ever stop patting themselves on the back? I wouldn’t care except this political back slapping gala is paid for by the public, it is not a private outfit doing this.

That was a misspell, best actor.

Who got the best hair award?

Congratulation Nathan, a most deserving award and recognition. I hear NDP leader Tom Mulcair also received an award, keep up the good work on behalf of your constituents.

Was that the *Snatching Defeat From The Jaws Of Victory* Award ?

Just like elementary school where everyone gets a ribbon for participation. Talk is cheap

Puke city, how stupid…
