Prince George, B.C. – Two weeks of celebrating the contribution women make to Canadian society are now ,officially, underway in Prince George.
Entitled “Inspiring Women Among Us” the event is meant to not only acknowledge women who are inspiring, but to inspire others.
Dr. Annie Booth, Professor of Ecosystem Science and Management is one of the organizers of this year’s event which is larger than the inaugural event held last year. “It was meant to be much smaller than last year” says Booth, “But people kept coming to us with great ideas.” The end result is 40 events packed into the two weeks.
Those events include workshops, artistic events and four film screenings between now and November 30th. All of the events are open to the public and all.are free.
The celebrations wrap up with a solemn ceremony on November 30th at UNBC’s Wintergarden to recognize the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
The two weeks have been officially declared “Inspiring Women Among Us” weeks in the City of Prince George.
