Clandestine Lab Uncovered in Williams Lake
Williams Lake, B.C. – One person is in custody and a special unit of the RCMP called in to deal with a clandestine drug lab following the execution of a search warrant by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.
An investigation into allegations of drug trafficking in the Williams Lake area led to the arrest of a 20 year old man and seizure of a small amount of cocaine.
A search of the suspect’s residence on Windmill Crescent in Williams Lake resulted in the seizure of one kilogram of cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, two loaded handguns, two semi-automatic rifles, ammunition, a homemade silencer, edged weapons, thousands of dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia.
In the basement of the residence, officers uncovered substances and paraphernalia consistent with what is believed to be an illegal synthetic drug lab. Although its not believed the lab was currently in use, the RCMP’s Federal CLEAR team, responsible for dismantling clandestine drug labs was called. That team is heading to the residence to assess and process the site so it is safe for officers to continue their search of the premises.
It is expected that the CLEAR Team will arrive in Williams Lake later this morning and it is not known how long they will remain at the residence. There are no immediate concerns for the safety of other residents or properties in the area.
