Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Fire Rescue was pressed into action early this morning in the Hart.
At around 3:30 a.m. crews responded to a vehicle fire that was extending into an adjacent structure – a garage – in the 2800 block of Nixon Crescent.
Firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours preventing the blaze from spreading to the attached home though the pickup truck and garage were a total loss.
Assistant Fire Chief Dan Pears estimates damages at $50,000 and says there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined but deemed suspicious.

It appears as if we may have a firebug amidst us.
The vehicle may have had a block heater plugged in that shortened out. Some Ford Explorers suffered from spontaneous fires from an overheating solenoid that stayed powered up even though the vehicle had the ignition shut off and key removed. There was a recall campaign. Or of course, a firebug….
