New School Board Chair Weighs in on ‘Big’ Year Ahead
Prince George, B.C. – Tim Bennett is getting ready for what he calls “a busy and exciting year” as chair of the Prince George school board.
The third term trustee was acclaimed at last night’s inaugural meeting and says his one-year term as chair will be highlighted by next May’s provincial election.

“I think through our association with the BC School Trustee Association we have an election advocacy group that is working on making sure that everybody knows that education is the key to the economy, to the future of B.C. and we really want to make sure public education is the number one goal come election time.”
But as much as he sees the election as a “critical milestone,” Bennett notes the district has plenty of other important work to focus on too.
“We have to implement the new strategic plan, we have a new curriculum our staff in the schools is working really hard to implement. The role of the board is to support our superintendent and senior team as they manoeuver the challenges and get ready for a busy and challenging year.”
