Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Civic Centre is abuzz with activity today on this, the busiest shopping weekend prior to Christmas.
Just over 100 vendors offering a wide variety of homemade goods and crafts have set up tables to offer their wares at Winterfest, organized by the Wilson Square Community Market. There is no admission and there are plenty of things going on including an activities centre for the kids, pet pictures with Santa, music and more.
Market Association President Maria Pennock says “any crafter in Prince George was invited to come. The base was the Wilson Square Community Market and then we just stretched out from there. We also have the Humane Society that’s here, the Blackburn Community Association is selling 50/50 tickets for their group and there is someone here from the Ukrainian dancers. Some of our charities are here too.”
Pennock says “we have a fish pond for the kids, Santa is going to be here about 1:30 this afternoon, we have some basket giveaways, some singers are going to be coming in to do some singing, it’s a busy day.”
Winterfest continues until 4 pm today.
