Nechako Update
Prince George, B.C.- Despite the chilling temps of Christmas Day, there has been no major change in the ice situation on the Nechako River.Regular monitoring indicates the Nechako river’s level remains the same but the stationary ice has increased slightly from the previously noted length of 12 kms upstream from the confluence with the Fraser River .
There are still several open channels of water, and the flow seems to be unchanged.
Prince George RCMP and Prince George Fire Rescue Services continue to remind residents to stay off the river ice. The parking lots at the canoe launch, boat launch, and Kiwanis Park continue to be closed and the Heritage River Trail is closed between the Replica Bridge and the Cameron Street Bridge.
