Downtown P.G. Preps for Winter Party
Prince George, B.C.- One month from today, Downtown Prince George will be the site of a special Winter Carnival.
Downtown Prince George has partnered with a number of organizations and businesses to celebrate winter on February 12th.
The day long event, set to take place in front of City Hall at 6th and George Streets, will offer opportunities to play road hockey, see snow sport demonstrations, snow sculpture, and a snow slide. Downtown Prince George Manager, Colleen Van Mook says there are other events in the works “We are working with a lot of different partners, like Exploration Place the YMCA, two Rivers Gallery, so we’re working with them to provide activities, so we will be sharing more of that as we get closer to the day.”
And there’s more, or should that be ‘smore’? The carnival will feature an ooey gooey contest that will have teams try to win over attendees with the best “smore” treat. Smore contest teams will be raising money from the sale of their campfire treat for the charity of their choice.
The only thing the carnival needs now, is for the temperatures to warm up a bit “We are happy to see the snow” says Van Mook, “We are happy to see the sun, but we want to make sure people will stay warm and we’ll keep them moving.”
Both the Legion Winter Market and the Prince George Farmers Market will be open for the duration of the carnival and there will be food trucks on hand for the event which is set to run from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday February 12th.
