Prince George, B.C. – The city’s diversity will be on full display this weekend as the International Education Department at the College of New Caledonia puts on a Chinese New Year celebration.

It will take place at the First Baptist Church on Fifth Avenue and Gillett Street and will give locals a taste of China’s most important traditional holiday of the year.

“This is one of the closest to traditional Chinese New Year celebrations you will see in the city,” said Tony Mei, CNC’s education operation’s assistant. “The show will feature cultural dance, song and even a band.

He says there will also be a traditional style buffet from local Chinese eatery China Taste plus family friendly games with prizes.

According to the Chinese Zodiac calendar, 2017 is the year of the Rooster. People born in the year of the Rooster are said to be very observant, resourceful, courageous and talented.

The celebration runs from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30p.m. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children. You can purchase tickets through the International Education Office and the Student Union at CNC or by calling 250-562-2131 ext.5449.
