8th Annual Quesnel Winter Carnival
Quesnel, B.C. – For those looking for some family fun Quesnel is the place to be today.
The 8th annual Quesnel Winter Carnival continues at the West Fraser Timber Park from noon until 5:30 tonight following last night’s opening ceremonies at the Twin Arenas.
“We have snowshoes, we have our cross-country ski club out teaching people how to cross-country ski, we’ll have sledding,” says Carnival coordinator Susan MacNeill. “And Save-On-Foods will be doing bannock and providing smores and hot chocolate over open-fire pits. We also have the Baker Creek Enhancement Society showcasing some nature things for kids to learn about.”
She says it will all be capped off by fire works just after 5.
Last year MacNeill says over 2,000 people attended but notes with the chilly forecast she isn’t sure this year.
“It’s always weather dependent in the North. We have seen a growth of 115 per cent over the seven years so we do continue to grow. We’re hoping once the sun is out shining people will come out and join us.”
