Local Man Named to BC Games Society
Prince George, B.C. – Jim Martin , the Chief Administrative Officer for the Regional District of Fraser Fort George, has some new duties .Martin has been named a Director on the BC Games Society, one of nine new Directors to join that team.
” Being appointed to the B.C. Games Society is quite a privilege” says Martin. “It allows me to provide a perspective of the north on the B.C. Games, both summer and winter games, and policy development at the Board Level”.
Martin has a lot of Games experience, having been the Vice Chair and treasurer of the 2015 Canada Winter Games Society “It gives me a Board perspective and a multi sport perspective which is what the BC Games is all about as well.”
Martin can also offer a perspective from the point of a parent of athletes “Both my children have been involved in ski racing and soccer, and I am still currently active as an official in alpine skiing as well and I will continue on in that capacity. So sport is a big part of our life, and it’s a really good fit with the BC Games Society.”
The BC Games Society says all nine new Directors have been chosen because of their particular areas of expertise. As Martin has extensive experience in regional government, he thinks those skills will be valuable to the BC Games Society “With my experience on various Boards, and being CAO with local government, I think they’re going to find that finance piece as well, that I will be able to offer.”
