Open House on Student Reporting Tonight

Wednesday, February 22, 2017 @ 5:47 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Those with questions regarding changes to student reporting in British Columbia’s public school system are invited to an open house at Prince George Secondary School tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

It’s being hosted by the Ministry of Education and invites parent to share their views on how to improve student reporting in kindergarten-to-Grade 9 classrooms.

There will also be a brainstorming workshop from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. if you’d like to share your thoughts in greater detail.

Both ministry staff and school district officials will also be on hand answering questions.

Parents unable to make tonight’s open house can still share their feedback online until Feb. 28, 2017.

A summary report of what was heard during the province-wide engagement process will be posted online in June.

Changes to public school reporting were initiated at the start of this school year.

Last July, the Ministry of Education said it was “redesigning curriculum and assessment to fit with the modern education system needed for today’s world.”
