Ice Oval to Re-Open This Weekend
Prince George, B.C. – Those looking for some outdoor fun this weekend have an extra option to consider.
After being closed the last two to three weeks due to our recent warm spell, the Prince George Ice Oval is set to re-open this morning at 11.
“Yes, thanks to some colder temperatures and quite a bit of work by the Outdoor Ice Oval crew, ” says Kathy Lewis, president of the Outdoor Ice Oval Society.
She notes warm weather has led to more closings this winter than in previous years.
“We’ve been open for 57 days – not counting the upcoming opening. And that is our second lowest. Last year (at this time) we were only open for 55 days. And we’ve been open as much as almost 100 days in the past.”
Considering how unpredictable the weather has been, she urges people to come out this weekend.
“I really encourage people to come out and skate while we still have some pretty good ice. We’ll have skate rentals available as well. So yeah, come on out.”

Anyone else notice just how much coverage the Ice Oval and their agenda, gets on this site? Hmmmmm…
?
Hmmmmmmm. I have not used the oval, but have family members that do..The oval is a great asset in our community—and we should be extremely appreciative to the volunteers that put in hundreds of hours to maintain the ice for all to enjoy..
