Mines Inspector To Visit Blast Site
Prince George, B.C.- An Inspector from the Ministry of Mines will be visiting a Prince George gravel pit today, as part of the investigation into the blast that rocked the North Nechako area earlier this week.
Around 8:30 in the evening of Monday , February 27th, residents along the north side of the Nechako River reported an explosion that rattled their homes.
Emergency crews rushed to Otway Road in an effort to respond to what they thought was an emergency, but after an hour and a half of looking for a source, it was confirmed the blast had come from a controlled blast at a quarry operation.
The Ministry of Mines says it will have an Inspector on site today at Pat’s Pit, where the blast occurred. The Inspector will be conducting interviews in addition to examining the site.
At this point there is no word on what action, if any, will be taken to prevent a similar occurrence from happening again.
