Lheidli T’enneh Election Re-Scheduled
Prince George, B.C.- The members of the Lheidli T’enneh were supposed to vote for Chief and Council one week from today, but instead, that election has been rescheduled to April.
The Electoral Officer, Loreen Suhr, has issued a notice to all members, saying the election has been reschedule to April 12th “This has become necessary due to concerns being raised that the return envelope enclosed with the mail-in ballot packages may not contain sufficient postage” reads the notice.
New mail in ballots are being issued on Monday March 6th. The election is now set for April 12th.
Although a significant number of mail in ballots had already been received, those ballots will be destroyed. The new ballots will be a different colour from the original in order to ensure only the new ones will be counted and there is no opportunity for one person to cast more than one vote.
“I regret any confusion this may cause” says Suhr, “however, it is important to ensure that all members have confidence in the mail-in ballot process.”
