Local Wrestler Headed Back to Nationals
Prince George, B.C. – Tristina Howse is hoping third time’s a charm this week in Windsor Ontario.
A member of the Prince George Secondary School Polars Wrestling team, the grade 12 student is making her third consecutive trip to the national high school wrestling championships from April 7-9.

She won two medals at nationals last year – a bronze in Freestyle and a silver in Greco-Roman, and a silver in freestyle two years ago.
So, how’s she feeling heading into this year’s competition?
“Nervous. It’s my last tournament and I want to do well,” says Howse.
She’s expecting it to be extra challenging because she’s sat out much of this year after undergoing surgery.
“I’ve been trying to get back up with my cardio and stuff but the wrestling comes back once you’re on the mat. So, I’m not too worried about that.”
But regardless of how well she does, she plans on continuing with wrestling once she graduates.
“I’m just waiting to see if I got into the University of Winnipeg. I plan to go as far as it takes me.”
