CNC Set to Host Free Dental Day
Prince George, B.C. – This Saturday the College of New Caledonia will host its 9th annual Gift from the Heart day.
The College is partnering with the Northern British Columbia Dental Hygiene Society on the initiative for a day set aside for registered hygienists to share their skills and knowledge for those who need it the most.
“It’s actually for our previous patients of our Dental Hygiene program,” says Leslie Battersby, faculty member in the school’s Dental Studies program. “Because we were suspended for a couple of years and we’re coming back this September. In the meantime, our hiatus meant our patients haven’ been able to have any dental hygiene treatment.”
Along with reconnecting with their old patients, she says there’s a real need for the service they will provide (mainly teeth cleaning and X-Rays).
Battersby says Gift from the Heart also coincides with April’s Dental Health Month and is a chance to promote oral health and wellness.
Seventeen hygienists from the community will be volunteering alongside CNC faculty and Dental Assisting students.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is already fully booked.
