McBride, B.C. – Firefighters tending to what remains of the fire that destroyed a McBride cedar mill last Wednesday received some assistance on Saturday.
A mulch pile has been burning at the mill site and heavy equipment was brought in yesterday to knock down the height of the pile, allowing fire suppression crews access to the fire burning inside it.
Firefighters are remaining on site at what is left of the BKB Cedar Manufacturing mill throughout the weekend. The investigation into the cause of the fire that broke out early Wednesday morning continues. There were no employees on the job at the time of the blaze. The mill employed 35 full-time workers.
