McBride, B.C.- The fire at the BKB Cedar Mill site on Museum road in McBride continues to smolder.

The fire,  which   started  last Wednesday and destroyed the mill,  continues to burn  in a mulch  pile at the site.

Crews will continue working on bringing down that  mulch pile and continue fire suppression works on the pile  today. Protection works have been applied to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring properties and crews continue to monitor closely.

The fire is contained, but still active with investigations ongoing.

The public is asked to avoid the area as this fire is still under investigation and the scene is not safe for public access. Only authorized people are allowed on scene for the safety of the fire fighters and the public, as well as the integrity of the investigation. The public’s cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
