Mill Owner and Crew to Take Control of Mulch Pile Fire
McBride, B.C.- There has been significant progress in battling a fire that continues to burn in a mulch pile at the BKB Cedar Mill in McBride.
It’s been nearly a week since flames destroyed the mill on Museum Road in McBride. Today crews have made a great deal of progress in bringing down the mulch pile to allow fire suppression works to continue. The mulch pile is anticipated to continue to smolder for at least another week.
The property owner and a crew of his employees will assume responsibility for continued work on the mulch pile.
BC Wild Fire Service is providing training to the mill owner and his employees for that work. The site will continue to be monitored by the McBride District Volunteer Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service.
Monitoring will continue until it is determined the pile no longer poses a hazard.
