Farmers have the legal right to run their farm equipment on roads and highways, but by doing so they take an awful risk, from what I’ve seen.

Yup, and they can be pretty ignorant about it as well. A few months back I followed in a line of about forty vehicles a farm tractor all the way from Dagel road 30km or so East of vanderhoof all the way through to the scales. You would think the guy could move over a bit when it was clear, or let a few past him at roads entrances where he could pull off for a half minute to let some traffic go… Damn near 40km he went not letting a single car by going barely 30kph… Some crazy passes only encouraged and just stupid impatience takes over for everyone.

Should be a rule they have to pull off and let traffic by at every chance, or get off the highway altogether. If they had some courtesy then people would wait to pass, rather than gun it at any chance they can get. I just don’t understand when they are on farmer time how costing five minutes in their time for safety is such a big issue….

I believe there are rules in place that mandate vehicles travelling significantly slower than other traffic must pull over and let the built up vehicles pass.

Sounds like this farmer was just being a jerk.

seen lots of close calls with tractors and loaders, not that this was the cause… still under investigation. but time for a minimum speed limit. 100k and 30k don’t play nice together.
