Prince George, B.C.- The Cariboo Cougars fell to the Leduc Oil Kings 4-1 in their opening game of the Telus Cup at CN Centre tonight.
Leduc jumped out to a two-goal lead after the first period after goals from Colby Wolters and Brendan Morrow.
Trey Thomas cut the lead to one mid-way through the second for the Cougars but it’s as close as the hosts would come.
Breydon Berthold added Leduc’s third and Dillon Hamaliuk put one in the empty net in the third to clinch the win.
The Cougars outshot Leduc 40-30. They get back it tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. when they play the Regina Pat Canadians.
