Budget and Curriculum Concerns Prompt Community Meeting in McBride

Monday, May 8, 2017 @ 5:50 AM

McBride, B.C. – How are B.C. tax dollars flowing through the Ministry of Education to the Prince George School District and out east to McBride?

That’s what parents in McBride want to know and it’s why the school district has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, May 18 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The District says parents have also questioned how provincial curriculum and local programming decisions can best serve their community.

The meeting will be held at McBride Secondary School.  Assistant superintendent Nevio Rossi and other senior district staff and trustees will be there along with principals from McBride Elementary and Secondary schools to present information and to answer questions.

“This was one of the recommendations that came out of our ad hoc committee on rural education, it was something that we heard loud and clear from community members, especially in McBride,” says Tim Bennett, school board chair. “And we want to make sure that community members feel comfortable as to how we’re utilizing tax dollars.”
