Any statistics on shop lifting?. Seems to be out of control in some areas of the City.

Aye I wouldn’t mind seeing those stats as well on shoplifting

Ironically a good many shoplifting calls to the big box stores and the area malls are for older and elderly females which is a surprise to many people as you wouldn’t expect them to be shoplifters and already this year I’ve seen the police respond to a certain big box store to deal with older ladies who were caught shoplifting and in handcuffs

If you mean by older. You mean senior citizen. If they gave the seniors the same benefits they give the welfare recipients. There would be no need for them to shoplift

      Foggy, that was Hilarious.

I hope that the hiring of 8 new firemen is to replace retiring one’s.If not I hope that I will notice a reduction in my household fire insurance.Looking at these stats looks like our local police need more help. But I did not go to a university to read these stats.

When they only give us half the picture the statistics become useless for anything other than promoting budgets.

We need to see how many charges were laid for the crimes, and the repeat offender rates.

If we have 68% increase in sexual assaults and no charges laid, that’s huge. If we see last year say 20% resulted in charges laid, and one individual was responsible for half of those.. It sheds light on the situation.

If we have say two individuals charged for B&E, but they represent 80% of last years B&E’s, and we have a decrease this year, but no cases solved, then we still have a problem.

I would argue 80% of the crimes are committed by only a handful of people, so seeing if individuals are charged for multiples of these crimes, and the repeated offender rates, is vitally important to making good policy decisions for our politicians and judiciary.

Robberies and vehicle thefts are down, so I wonder who they’ve put in jail for awhile?
