CNC Launches Online Fundraising

Monday, May 15, 2017 @ 5:45 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The College of New Caledonia is trying something different  in its annual fundraising  efforts.  It is  inviting would be donors to  go  online to see  where they would like their dollars focused.“This campaign derived from our global gala, the annual fundraising event  the College puts on” says CNC’s Manager of Communications, Alyson Gourley-Cramer.    “Within that event is an opportunity for attendees to choose from a wish-list   of items instructors have identified as  the hands on experiential pieces that will make an impact in the lives of students.”

Some of the items range from a  $20 Chef’s ruler,  to  just over $4 thousand for library lounge seating.

(complete list can be viewed here.)

Gourley-Cramer  says  while  all of the  programs offered at CNC have the tools  needed to offer those  programs,  the items  listed  are meant to enhance  the student’s  experience.

“We decided to take the list and put it on line so it’s  accessible to more than those who attended that one (gala) event.  It also has a broader region,  so people in our six campus regions could also participate if they wanted to.”

She says this online  wish-list, will allow donors to have their  dollars directed to a specific item, rather  than a pool  of money “Part of this appeal  of this fundraising campaign is we are able to offer people real items, so they can see  where,  if they were  to make a general donation to CNC for example, you leave it  in the hands of the College  as to where the money would go, so  in this case,  what is unique in this campaign is we’ve actually brought to light some of the items where  the money does go, or could be contributed to  items that could be used in class  that students  would be using.  It’s de-mystifying where  the money goes when they donate and people can actually choose where they want their money to go.”
