Search Warrant Leads to Drugs, Weapons Seizure in Williams Lake

Williams Lake, B.C. – The newly formed Crime Reduction Unit is off on the right foot in Williams Lake.

North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says over the weekend the unit executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, drugs, and over $20,000 in cash from a suspected drug trafficker’s home.

“Police seized drugs suspected to be crystal meth, cocaine, heroin, shatter and marijuana. The firearms, which were prohibited or modified included a rifle and a restricted handgun,” she says.

Saunderson says the search warrant was issued Sunday and led to the arrest of two men – both known to police.

The pair – who have not been named – are scheduled to make their first appearance in court today.

The Crime Reduction Unit was announced by the provincial government in February to help crack down on crime in the city.

The unit focuses on specific crimes and prolific offenders (see previous story here).
