Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George school board approved its 2016-2021 strategic plan ‘Inspiring Learning Anywhere’ at its monthly public board meeting last night.

The Board hired third-party consultant Stormy Lake Consulting to help facilitate the development of the document in the spring of 2015 ($100,000 was budgeted but a little over a half of that amount was used. See previous story here).

Subsequently Stormy lake held nine consultation meetings in communities throughout the district and the Board received a summary report of the plan last spring.

This year the superintendent of schools in collaboration with senior administration and various stakeholders have worked to develop “an operationalized” plan.

The document includes models for school effectiveness, overall and specific goals, quality indicators and achievement strategies to be implemented.

“The main purpose of the strategic plan is to really help govern decisions made by the both the Board and senior administration,” says Board chair Tim Bennett.

“It lays out, with the help of our community, what the five-year vision of our district is. So, when you look at things like the budget, when we look at thing like our student framework or any decision made by the Board, you should be able to tie it back as meeting one of the directions outlined in the strategic plan.”
