Calling all Golfers
Prince George, B.C.- The annual Special Olympics fundraising Golf Tournament is set for the 16th of June in Prince George.
This is the 24th anniversary of the event which raises money for local Special Olympic athletes to take part in sporting events with their peers.
The events promote a safe and healthy lifestyle for all competitors.
While there are other events taking place in the community to raise funds for Special Olympics, this is the only one where each and every dollar stays in Prince George. “We have no administration fees, and we are strictly run by volunteers” says Lucia Van Hage, one of the Special Olympics Directors.
There are 120 Special Olympics athletes in P.G. and a further 90 volunteers who coach and assist them.
The golf tournament features a Texas scramble, putting contest, silent auction, and a banquet.
Registration for a team of four is $500 or individuals can sign up for $125. Those who aren’t into golfing, but still want to help out can make a donation to be a sponsor.
