Assault Investigation Leads to Seizure of Drugs and Weapons
Prince George, B.C. – Three people are facing charges following a police investigation this week.
It stems from an incident early Tuesday morning when Mounties responded to a report of a possible assault in progress case at a residence on Royal Crescent.
“Officers attended the residence and located an adult female,” says Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass. “The investigation led officers to believe that one or more persons escaped out of a window before police arrived.”
With the help of the Police Dog Service team, he says three men were found hiding in a wooded area near the home. He says a stolen vehicle from Alberta was in the driveway.
Subsequently, Douglass says a search warrant led to the seizure of drugs – including pot, meth and coke – along with several knives, nun-chucks, a prohibited handgun, shotguns and ammo.
He says 31-year-old Jason Paul Mathany has been charged with assault, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, three counts of careless storage of a firearm and six counts of possession of a firearm without a licence.
Also charged was 24-year-old Dana Louise Frank. She’s facing three counts of careless storage of a firearm and six counts of possession of a firearm without a licence.
Forty-eight-year-old Charles Dalton Darling was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Douglass says a third male was released without charges. All involved are originally from Calgary.
He says the RCMP’s Street Unit Crew is now leading the investigation and says more changes may be coming.
