Prince George, B.C. – Dozens gathered for a barbecue to celebrate 30 years of hospice care in the city of Prince George this afternoon.

Save-on-Foods donated its time and food (hamburgers, hot dogs and a cake) to help support the event.

Sanja Knezevic, special events coordinator with the Hospice Society, says the organization has made a big difference to the community over the years.

“I think it’s been huge and you know our biggest supporters are people who have gone through the hospice process,” she said. “And I think once people go through it, they understand the value and they understand the importance and that’s when they become huge advocates.”

The special day will be capped with their Silver Bucket 50/50 draw at 5 p.m. (With a jackpot of around $40,000).

Knezevic says the fundraiser helps them in their drive to raise $1.4 million annually to keep the Hospice Society going.

Hopefully my phone starts ringing in about 18 minutes!
Great cause, I have no problem supporting a local organization like this.
