Building Stats Down From Last Year
Prince George, B.C. – There were eleven new single family housing starts in Prince George in May, with a total building permit value of just under $5.3 million dollars.
In all, last month saw 44 building permits( of all types) issued with a total value of just under $7.7 million. That’s below the number of projects started in May of last year (55) and a little over a third of the permit value for May of 2016 which was just over $21 million.
Two commercial developments in May of last year can be credited with the difference. In May of 2016, there were two new commercial projects valued at $14.2 million. Last month there were two new commercial projects, but their total value was $418 thousand.
The year to date stats show there have been 166 projects started January to end of May this year with a total value of $34.34 million, compared to 163 starts valued at $62.8 million during the same five months of 2016.
