Starting today, Live History – a theatre company that specializes in bringing local history to life – will be showcasing their interactive show Circa.
“Live History is an immersive theatre experience and it’s a one-woman show based on a character named Circa,” says Amanda Smedley, deputy director at The Exploration Place. “And this woman comes from somewhere in Prince George history and she’s lost her memory. And so, the whole point of the performance and the experience is for participants to help Circa regain her memory and figure out who she is.”
Smedley says it’s the first time Circa has come to The Exploration Place, and as far as she knows, Prince George.
So, what inspired her to bring it to town?
“I just thought it was a really interesting way to portray our history. I think sometimes people are not as interested or excited about history as they could be and I thought this could be a really fun and innovative way to help people learn more about their history and maybe get a little more excited about it as well.”
There are two shows scheduled for both today and tomorrow (an all-ages show at 11 a.m. and adults only show at 7 p.m.) plus a pair of workshops tomorrow.
The youth workshop (ages 13-17) starts at 1 p.m. and the child workshop (12 and under) starts at 3 p.m. To learn more call 250-562-1612.
