Special Olympians Ready to Compete

Athletes and coaches ready to head to Kamloops-photo 250News

Prince George, B.C. –  In less than two weeks,  the  B.C. Special Olympics Summer Games will be underway in Kamloops,  and the team from Prince George is eager to compete.Twenty four   athletes from Prince George will be competing  in 10 pin bowling,  athletics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Aquatics, Golf, Power lifting, and soccer.

The athletes have been training at least  three times a week  for the past nine months  and have qualified  for the BC Summer Games  by competing  in  regional  meets   in 2016.

The team from Prince George will be among 1600 athletes from rhrought BC taking part in the Provincial games.

They are hoping their performances  in Kamloops  on the  7th and 8th of July, will  qualify  them for the  2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games, which are taking place in Antigonish Nova Scotia.

From there,  qualifying competitors  can  move on to the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.
