Quesnel, B.C. – Bouchie Lake Elementary School will have the outdoor classroom it’s been dreaming of this fall.

This after the school was announced Friday as one of four winners in the BCAA Play Here contest. As a result, the school will receive a play area revitalization of up to $100,000.

“Well, we were pretty excited when the announcement was made. It was like a carnival here at our school,” says principal Cynthia Bernier.

She attributes the win to a couple of factors.

“Our PAC (Parent Advisory Council) was just incredible and our community businesses got involved. It was just amazing.”

Bernier says planning for the outdoor classroom will begin next week with construction set for September. She expects it will be completed in October.

The other winners were Galiano Community School, Marion Shilling Elementary School and McKay Street Park.
