Fires ‘Contained’ says BC Wildfire Service
Prince George, B.C. – There is good news on the small wildfire 21 kms west of Prince George.
The fire, which is about 10 kms west of Reid Lake is 100% contained. That fire, which was noted Friday evening, has been held to 3 hectares. “”Due to the hard work of our firefighters, it is 100%contained” says Ryan Turcott of the BC Wildfire Service ” Six firefighters remain on site actioning the blaze, but there aren’t any further concerns at this point.”
Meantime, the 36 hectare fire west of Lac La Hache is listed as being 100% contained, but Turcott says that fire is still being classified as ‘out of control’. ” We’re not considering it as being ‘held’ yet because although there are control lines 100% around the fire, just the way it’s behaving right now, we’re not 100% confident that it won’t spread beyond those control lines that have been set up.”
So at this point, crews are working to reinforce the control lines around that Lac La Hache area fire .
There were seven new fires reported throughout the Province overnight including two that were detected this morning, one in the Coastal Fire Centre region, the other in the Cariboo Fire Centre region. There are no immediate details available on the new fires.
