Prince George, B.C. – Without a doubt the people of Prince George were in the mood to celebrate Canada Day with gusto, and celebrate they did.Hot on the heels on of an enormous turnout for the seven hours of festivities at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, great numbers of people flocked to Canada Games Plaza last night for the opening evening of eight straight days of musical entertainment known as “Heatwave”.

The were treated to performances by three bands.  The French Connection led off the opening night of Heatwave.  Next up was Andino Suns, billed as a Chilean band from Regina that plays traditional Andean music but with a prairie influence.  They were great entertainers with lots of comedy inserted into their show and plenty of facial gestures.  And the musicianship was great, lots of tunes that made you want to move your body, and many did.  The closing band for the evening, Delhi 2 Dublin.

Sunday afternoon The Albas entertain from 12 noon until 1 pm while the evening performers, again from 7 to 10:30 pm, include Don Amero and Stephen Fearing.

The entire superb Canada Day celebration was topped off with a spectacular fireworks show from Connaught Hill.  Here are a few pictures if you missed it.

We hope you enjoyed those shots, and Canada Day.
