Williams Lake, B.C.  – The message on the Cariboo Regional District  Operations Centre’s facebook page this  morning  is encouraging:

“Good morning from the CRD Emergency Operations Centre. We are here and safe in Williams Lake, keeping tabs on the wildfire situation throughout the Cariboo.

The public information phone lines are now open and will be staffed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Please call 1-866-759-4977 with your questions.

Our Public Info Team will post verified information as it is received, but due to volume, we won’t be able to respond to comments or private messages.

We’re thinking of all of you impacted by the current evacuation orders throughout our region.”

The message follows news that flames  did not  enter the City of Williams Lake overnight as had been feared.  ( see previous story) .
