Cache Creek, B.C. – Great news for Cache Creek residents.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has announced that Cache Creek residents may soon return home.

“While the Ashcroft fire remains very active and continues to grow and burn out of control, the imminent threat posed by the Ashcroft fire has currently diminished to the point that residents of the Village of Cache Creek can return to their homes effective 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18,” it says.

The regional district adds residents need to be mindful however that the village remains on evacuation alert.

“While the Ashcroft fire continues to remain very active, residents must be prepared to leave at any time. Residents will be given as much advance warning as possible prior to the evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.”

Residents of Cache Creek were evacuated from their homes on Friday, July 7. Many of those residents made their way to a reception centre in Kamloops.
