Prince George, B.C. – Subway Restaurants in Prince George  are joining their colleagues from across B.C. in  donating $10 thousand  to the BC Wildfire Appeal of the Red Cross.

“The owners of our 442 Subway restaurants in BC live alongside the people who are struggling through this fire crisis. They want to help,” says Margo Micallef, Chair & CEO of Subway Developments 2000 Inc. “We will do all we can to assist our neighbours in need.”

Inspired by her colleagues in the Subway Family, Micallef has pledged an additional $10,000 donation to the Red Cross from her organization, bringing the total Team Subway BC contribution to $20,000.

Subway patrons can also help,  as  partial proceeds  from the sales of  Subway Italian Hero Panini or Italian Hero Sandwich will be donated to the Red Cross.

Patrons can also  top up their  donation by adding  a donation to the Red Cross  by purchasing a Subway Cares Card  when they pay their bill.

That is nice to see and thank you Subway! My concern is how much money raised through charities, donations, etc. actually go to the evacuees and their tough times. So many times you read about UNICEF, Red Cross, and the big ‘charities’ overseas and the overhead to the executives, overhead and their wages. I wil donate my time, food stuffs, etc. but I will not donate cash! This is why I volunteer my time to Hospice Resale, all funds stay for the Hospice House.

You hit that on the head. Are there any local organizations that one can contribute to for fire relief?.
Cheers
