Williams Lake Residents ‘Can Barely Wait’ to Get Home
Prince George, B.C. – Williams Lake residents are feeling jubilant this afternoon following news the evacuation order for their town was lifted.
“I can barely wait to get home,” said John Andrew outside UNBC’s Northern Sport Centre with his wife and son. “We’ve been here two weeks now. We’re going home tomorrow though because traffic will be bumper-to-bumper.”

“It’s wonderful, just wonderful,” added Gerald Crane. “My wife and I have been here three weeks and we’re leaving now.”
However today’s news was bittersweet for Williams Lake resident Garrett Sackman.
“I’d like to go back but the air quality is poor and I’ve got bronchitis. So, I’m going to wait a few days.”
The evacuation order for Williams Lake and surrounding areas was issued July 15 due to raging wildfires in the area.
