Heat, Smoke Add to Fire Concerns

Sunday, July 30, 2017 @ 1:01 PM

Prince George, B.C. – While the fire danger rating in the Prince George region has remained mostly moderate with a few pockets rated high, the same cannot be said for the Kamloops area.

The BC Wildfire Service says the Kamloops Fire Centre is experiencing elevated fire danger ratings, from high to extreme throughout the region.  Hot, dry conditions are forecast for several days and people are being told to be extremely vigilant when out in the backcountry.

Meanwhile, smoke from a big fire burning in Washington State is visible in the Penticton Fire Zone and much of southern BC.  That thick smoke is expected to remain for the next few days at least.
