Prince George, B.C. – People throughout B.C and from across the country have been showing their support for those impacted by wildfires by making donations to the Red Cross BC Wildfires Appeal.
So far, more than $13 million dollars has been donated to assist those in need.
“We appreciate the support citizens from across the country are providing for affected communities in British Columbia” says Assistant Deputy Minister for Emergency Management B.C. Robert Turner
He says the Red Cross has already provided thousands of items to evacuees including:
- 1531 cots
- over 3100 blankets
- over 11 thousand hygiene kits
- 1500 pillows,
- nearly 11,000 clean up kits
- nearly 12 thousand after the fire kits
Turner says there are still between 6 and 7 thousand people on evacuation order in B.C.
13 million in,,, how much out?
That’s easy to figure out . The Red Cross pockets 17% off the top for itself .
They raised 500 million in Haiti,,, how much out? No one seems to know.
