Help Wanted – B.C. Has Plenty of Job Openings
Prince George, B.C. – British Columbia has the highest rate of job vacancies in the country, according to the 2nd quarter report from the Canadian Federation of Independent business.
The report pegs B.C.’s vacancy rate at 3.1%, which translates to 56 thousand openings.
The vacancy rate is climbing nationwide says CFIB’s Chief Economist Ted Mallet ““We are starting to see a growing number of unfilled jobs in most provinces across the country.”
Nationally, the job vacancy rate is 2.6%.
The CFIB report indicates the rising vacancy rates in the second quarter were most evident in the oil and gas sectors, construction, manufacturing, transportation and hospitality. In contrast, vacancy rates declined in the information, arts and recreation, finance and real estate industries.
