Citizens of the Year Announced

Prince George BC – The Prince George Community Foundation has revealed those who are to be named Citizens of the Year.
The recipients this year are:
Selen Alpay for his countless contributions and involvement in numerous charities and charitable events
Harold Hartshorne: For his long time commitment to the Elks the Rotary and local volunteer efforts including collecting old dental equipment and taking it to Albania.
Dee and Ron Neukomm: Dee is a founding member of Special Olympics Prince George and Ron has beenactively involved in a number of organizations and projects including Operation Red Nose” And the development of the universal boardwalk at the Ancient Forest
Shawn Rice: has brought major sporting events to Prince George including the World Baseball Challenge and most recently the Telus Cup.
The Citizens if the Year will be honoured at a gala dinner on October 12th.

Seems like it would be a good year to give it to all the people of PG, and especially the local businesses donating time, efforts.. during the evacuations. Just doesn’t seem right to give it to an individual considering the people who came together this year.
Lol, the World Baseball Challenge was a “major sporting event”…
