Interior Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Friday, September 8, 2017 @ 12:34 PM

Prince George, B.C. –  Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch  for the Yellowhead, Cariboo, Kinbasket, North Columbia and North Thompson  regions.

Environment Canada  says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be  capable of producing  strong  wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

While the heavy rain may be welcome in some of the areas that  have been plagued by wildfires, if the storm produces  strong wind gusts and lightning,   any accompanying rain will produce little relief.

The map at right shows  areas in yellow which are under the  severe thunderstorm watch,  while those in grey ( including Prince George) continue to be under the smoky skies bulletin.
