Prince George, B.C. – The 23-year-old Costco Prince George May Campaign for Kids has topped the million dollar mark in donations to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

The campaign was started in 1994 when the Costco outlet here was given permission to keep proceeds from the annual Children’s Miracle Network campaign in the north to benefit residents in our region.  The initial donation to Spirit of the North totalled $1,500 and this year, through the generosity of Costco members, that figured ballooned to an incredible $96,854.

The money is going to the purchase of an infant transport incubator, to be located in Vanderhoof, and two Enteral Feeding Pumps for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UHNBC in Prince George.  The Incubator is used in the transport of infants from one hospital to another when the need arises.  The feeding pumps deliver nutrition to infants who don’t have the strength or co-ordination to breast or bottle feed or can’t get their required nutrition by oral means alone.

Costco donated, or Costco collected? Big difference.
