Motorcyclist Dies as Result of 97 Crash
Prince George, B.C. – RCMP in Prince George have confirmed one person has died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash involving a motorcycle and van on highway 97 north at Nordic Drive last evening.
The crash occurred around5:45 last evening. The lone rider of the motorcycle and the lone driver of the mini-van were both transported to hospital where the adult male motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the mini van is expected to recover.
The investigation into this tragedy is just beginning, however, police say iIt appears that alcohol was not a factor.
This is the third incident involving a motorcycle in two days.
On Thursday September 14th, 2017 at approximately 1:00 PM, the Prince George RCMP responded to a single motorcycle collision on Highway 97 and Kelly Road in Prince George. The lone adult female rider was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Later the same day, Prince George RCMP responded to a collision that occurred at the intersection of Central Street West and 15th Avenue . A motorcycle and a SUV were involved in this collision. There were no significant injuries reported.
Police would like to remind both vehicle and motorcycle operators to take extra caution on the roads, especially this time of year Motorcycles are harder to see and it is the responsibility of all road users to look out for one another. Although all three of these incidents happened during daylight hours, the days are getting shorter and visibility more difficult. Please ensure that headlights are used at all times of the day, that you travel at the posted speed, and drive or ride to the conditions of the road.
